Writing in InDesign gives you layout power

Skilled Workman Posted on September 2, 2011 by David BergslandSeptember 2, 2011

I’ve been working on a new expanded version of “Writing In InDesign” for my peers in ministry. (I haven’t figured out how to add the updates into the first edition.) I may write “Drawing In InDesign” first. Then I’ll do a radically expanded 2nd edition of “Writing In InDesign”—but that’s all in flux. I also received this in an email this morning: From Don in Colorado: I was up until 3:am reading Writing in InDesign. I can tell you’ve put … Continue reading →

Thank you for the trial, Lord

Skilled Workman Posted on July 24, 2011 by David BergslandMarch 23, 2020

Thank you for the trial , Lord. I was listening to John Hagee this morning. He was on one of his wonderful tirades again about the glory of Jesus. But then he slipped into something I have heard over and over since becoming a believer as I studied scripture. Sadly, I rarely hear it from the pulpit. Rejoice in your trials Maybe the NASB puts it better: exult in our tribulations [Romans 5:3]. Pastor Hagee was talking about … Continue reading →

My newest book: Writing in InDesign

Skilled Workman Posted on July 14, 2011 by David BergslandNovember 19, 2012

Check out my page on the book This book has been replaced by “Writing In InDesign Revised Edition 2.5” This first edition, first formatting of the new book is no longer available available on Amazon. It includes many of the recent postings on this blog, plus more help for authors writing in InDesign (version 7.5 especially). I’m convinced that InDesign is best place to write. Read and find out why that is true and how it can … Continue reading →

Editing ePUBs

Skilled Workman Posted on June 21, 2011 by David BergslandJune 21, 2011

One of my largest frustrations with desgining ePUBs has been the difficulty of decompressing and recompressing them to edit the CSS. Today on one of the groups I work with I was sent this:   Because of the problem with the mimetype-compression, rearchiving is on the Mac only via Terminal or via script possible. One Script is called ePUB Zip 1.0.2.   This script works very well. Just Google it, and download it. It would be a … Continue reading →

Skilled Workman Posted on May 26, 2011 by David BergslandMay 26, 2011

This is another section of the new book. I would love to hear your comments. I consider this a ropugh draft. I will be adjusted and editied for the final book. But what i have here is the state of knowledge as I have it today. ePUB Design For The New Publisher Formatting your ePUB without coding I need to let you know of my assumptions here. This is a book for ministers. The focus is on … Continue reading →

An InDesign plug-in for building folding templatesfoldfactory.com

Skilled Workman Posted on September 20, 2010 by David BergslandSeptember 20, 2010

foldfactory.com. This looks excellent, if you need something like this. It’s only current through CS4. But folding templates can be a real pain to figure out. PLUS, this gives you many options you may have never thought of. Pretty good for $99

eBooks & ePUB: multi-channel releases

Skilled Workman Posted on June 27, 2010 by David BergslandJune 27, 2010

One of the interesting things about the new paradigm of publishing is the lack of exclusivity. As I publish works for Radiqx and clients, I am continually struck by how many places I normally release things. My norm now is to start with Lulu, then do a Createspace version, then make an html version for Kindle, then a Word version for Smashwords, an ePUB version on Lulu for iPad, a PDF of one of the versions for … Continue reading →

This site uses the pseudonyms of Bergsland Design for design work; and Radiqx Press for publishing. Both of these have been used for some time beginning in the past millennium. The Skilled Workman is over a decade old dealing with spiritual teachings about our Messiah and the Holy Spirit he sent to us to help us. If you want to meet Jesus, click here.
