Gog & Magog: when are they relevant?

Skilled Workman Posted on May 17, 2010 by David BergslandMay 17, 2010

Do not be confused! Refuse to speculate! Gog, of the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal is the subject of endless speculation. This is considered one of the definitive signs of the latter days and the Great Tribulation. A minor note is that it is Magog in Ezekiel and Megog in Revelation—but that’s a quibble. But are they necessary for the coming of the King? No they are not! In fact, scripture seems … Continue reading →

The three comings: baby, king, & judge

Skilled Workman Posted on May 14, 2010 by David BergslandMay 14, 2010

Do not be confused! (Visit the prophecy section of the site) One of the major things that became clear as I studied prophecy was the over-emphasis on “the second coming”. It became very clear that prophecy was talking about three comings at least. What people couldn’t seem to understand was that the prophets wrote what they were given without understanding how everything fit together. Isaiah, for example, clearly did not understand that the phrases that we now call … Continue reading →

Is the rapture really going to happen?

Skilled Workman Posted on May 13, 2010 by David BergslandMay 13, 2010

Where does this teaching come from? As you can see to the right, the whole concept is rather recent. There is pre-, post-, and mid-tribulation rapture theories. In fact, there are countless theories. They are all theories Scripture is clear in not stating anything definite. The popular view that all true believers will be caught up into the clouds to be with the Lord is strongly stated in I Thessalonians 4: 13-18. However, this passage states … Continue reading →

The book is available through Lulu now—Amazon and the rest are coming soon. This revision includes the new features for CS5 that apply to formatting with styles. Again, most of the revisions are geared toward making InDesign work smoother and more efficiently in your workflow. I’ve been surprised, as always, by how quickly I’ve become addicted to the new version. It’s a really strong upgrade again. Eternal life is to know God

Skilled Workman Posted on March 21, 2010 by David BergslandMarch 23, 2020

Eternal life is to know God and this definition was prayed by Jesus in his last priestly prayer of John 17. For those who have heard me teach Scripture, you understand how important I believe John 17:3 is: And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. John 17:3 New International Version (NIV) Eternal life is to know God The focus of this verse is the verb: … Continue reading →

Skilled Workman Posted on March 18, 2010 by David BergslandMarch 18, 2010

Hackberry Font Foundry has released three fonts since the first of the year. They’ve all had a good response, and they’re all on sale until the early April. Acadami is working well as a book font and on sale until April 2 for $9. It’s up to  38 on the Starlets list of the old site, and 58th on the hot new fonts list on the new site. Adding a moment to your life…

Skilled Workman Posted on February 28, 2010 by David BergslandFebruary 28, 2010

What are you so worried about? Jesus is talking about the silliness of worrying about these things—food, clothing, shelter, health, genetic make up, inheritance, any of it. You need to relax!

This too is vanity and striving after wind…

Skilled Workman Posted on February 21, 2010 by David BergslandFebruary 21, 2010

One of the things that happens as you mature is dealing with all that you have seen, heard, and done. As I have told many people, I have learned more since I was fifty than in the fifty years prior. My entire writing career started when I was fifty, for example. Lately, we have been dealing a lot with Ecclesiastes—all is vanity. More and more, nothing seems to matter except our relationship with Jesus. Increasingly, the things … Continue reading →

I’ve added a new site: Bergsland Books

Skilled Workman Posted on January 23, 2010 by David BergslandMay 16, 2015

As I get ramped up to submit my new novel to publishers (and enter it in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award), it has become increasingly obvious that I need a separate site for my fiction. So I resurrected my old domain bergsland.org and converted it to Bergsland Books. http://bergsland.org and who knew it would be transformed to The Skilled Workman?  Life is full of surprises. It’s up and running with some simple stuff for Black Sail: a Christian covert … Continue reading →

Web 2 Digital Bible: Glo from Zondervan

Skilled Workman Posted on October 18, 2009 by David BergslandOctober 18, 2009

I ran across this in my Christian professionals group at Linked In this morning. It is a visually exciting presentation to be sure. My only question is: Can it really be used? I saw no place to add notes, new crossreferences or any of the other things necessary for a real study bible. I’ve included a scan of one of the pages in one of my bibles to show you what I mean. It may be that … Continue reading →

This site uses the pseudonyms of Bergsland Design for design work; and Radiqx Press for publishing. Both of these have been used for some time beginning in the past millennium. The Skilled Workman was begun in 2011 dealing with spiritual teachings about our Messiah and the Holy Spirit he sent to us to help us. If you want to meet Jesus, click here.
