Screw around with no consequences

Skilled Workman Posted on August 7, 2024 by David BergslandAugust 8, 2024

Screw around with no consequences is the core message of the pro-choice crowd. It’s at the side of the wide and easy road. It always has been. No one wants to deal with the fact that the designer of us all designed us so that this caused a lot of problems—which we are now living through. Avoiding those problems is the reward for following the original plan. You know where the man cleaves to his wife, and … Continue reading →

The doctrinal warfare ends for good

Skilled Workman Posted on July 18, 2023 by David BergslandJuly 27, 2023

The doctrinal warfare ends for good. Good riddance, that is. It was necessary for a while. But now it increasingly inhibits the believer’s life. How can I possibly say that? Because it has changed from a necessity to a blockage. The doctrinal warfare ends for good, no longer needed Churchians cannot even imagine the freedom of following the Lord more directly. Doctrines brought the church into feudalism. Armed fortresses with doctrines forming the outer defensive walls. The … Continue reading →

There is no death …

Skilled Workman Posted on January 28, 2023 by David BergslandJuly 26, 2024

There is no death … there is only a time when your choice has been made—heaven or hell. You need to make that part of your decision-making process. That time could come now—or it might be a year or two—probably not much longer than that. It really is that black and white. This present life we are living in the training place of mankind, where you get to choose where you will end up, is almost concluded. … Continue reading →

A prayer for a blessed Christmas 2021

Skilled Workman Posted on December 24, 2021 by David BergslandDecember 24, 2021

A prayer for a blessed Christmas 2021 is complex. For those of you in the Bride of the Messiah, it’s an exciting time. You can click on the image to the left for a pay whatever you like—if anything— link to a PDF and/or ePUB of a short booklet. It’s exciting as we live in Bible times. This time is as major as the first time Yeshua came to earth in the flesh. As far as momentous … Continue reading →

Black and white often provides focus

Skilled Workman Posted on March 8, 2021 by David BergslandMarch 8, 2021

Throughout my life as an artist/designer I have been struck with how black and white often provides focus. It’s  beautiful visual decision, but it tends to be more difficult than color. Elegance and simplicity are very hard to achieve without being stark and lifeless. The painting on the left is the first one I painted after I met Jesus in January, 1974. Being left-handed, it reads from right to left. The simple exuberance of leaving the chaos … Continue reading →

New release: InDesign CC Book Production, putting books together

Skilled Workman Posted on August 26, 2017 by David BergslandAugust 26, 2017

With this final release, InDesign CC Book Production, Putting the book together, my video coursework for book production is complete. This course removes the difficulty and relives the complexity of producing excellent quality, professional books. This is a very practical course. There is a lot to learn, but none of it is very difficult. It is very complex though. It is the goal of the course to make the complexity easy to understand and relatively simple to execute. If you have … Continue reading →

Page Layout Part 5: Graphic needs of the formats

Skilled Workman Posted on March 10, 2016 by David BergslandMarch 26, 2016

Graphic needs for Print, PDF, ePUB, & Kindle KFX For book publishing, what you need to understand about graphics is how usage varies in the different formats. You’ll need to hand-adjust to produce the graphics for the various formats. Automation causes many problems. I’m just going to list the four options and their requirements, best formats, and so on. Greyscale print with color cover Lulu & Createspace, plus professional on-demand like Lightning source: You need to be careful. … Continue reading →

Cover design: A wonderful crosshatching video for ink drawing…

Skilled Workman Posted on February 27, 2016 by David BergslandFebruary 27, 2016

I found this today, going through my emails. It is beautiful and wonderful. About five minutes… Dan Nelson’s delightful Cross Hatching library teaching ink illustration Does this take a lot of time? Duh! Is it satisfying? Yes. How does it compare to knitting, embroidery, painting, and all the rest? It’s just another opportunity to learn to get in touch with the things which matter in your life. It can be cathartic therapy, all the way to gentle … Continue reading →
