Continue reading →When Nordskog Publishing sent me this book to review: “From Mason to Minister Through the Lattice” I was expecting another Masonic expose. I’ve certainly seen enough of those and I’m well aware of the problems with the Masonic religion as practiced by the more occultic members. However, this book is not about that. The Lord can use anything to save his sheep What I found was a delightful story about a man who was saved through … Continue reading →
Accused of being religious — I hope not. What a horrible thing that is! I am certainly not religious, at least not too much. According to dictionary.com: a religion is a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, especially when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs. The problem is that sets are defined and God is beyond definition—at least my God is. Sets of beliefs become merely points of argument: think waste of time. Yes, I can define many of my beliefs. Many of them are Biblical. I do see the … Continue reading →
The mission of the church during apostasy. Things have gotten much worse during the nearly ten years since I wrote this post. Let’s get one thing straight, I am not a fan of the organizations I see. My experiences with the church organizations of the 21st century are not good, and I expect them to get worse. [Ed: though we finally found one In Rochester, NY in 2019.] Back in 2011, I had just heard about the … Continue reading →
I received this in an email from a friend today I strongly agree with his statement. As an American you are free to have your own religion. However, I am very tired of the humanist/atheist minority dictating our national religion. The separation of religion means that we should not have an official state religion and I’m afraid we have one. It’s humanism—the foolish belief that we can figure it out and fix our own problems. That’s absurd. … Continue reading →
I just spent an enlightening, mind-twisting Sabbath devouring this book. It cleared up so many objections I have always had about my upbringing as a top science student in the 1950s, and in my Christian life since 1974. I’ve known that governing my life by my walk in the Spirit coupled with sincere, deep Bible study meant that I could not ignore Genesis. But I’d never questioned my eons of time assumption. Now I can see that … Continue reading →
I’ve been working on a new expanded version of “Writing In InDesign” for my peers in ministry. (I haven’t figured out how to add the updates into the first edition.) I may write “Drawing In InDesign” first. Then I’ll do a radically expanded 2nd edition of “Writing In InDesign”—but that’s all in flux. I also received this in an email this morning: From Don in Colorado: I was up until 3:am reading Writing in InDesign. I can tell you’ve put … Continue reading →
Thank you for the trial , Lord. I was listening to John Hagee this morning. He was on one of his wonderful tirades again about the glory of Jesus. But then he slipped into something I have heard over and over since becoming a believer as I studied scripture. Sadly, I rarely hear it from the pulpit. Rejoice in your trials Maybe the NASB puts it better: exult in our tribulations [Romans 5:3]. Pastor Hagee was talking about … Continue reading →
Check out my page on the book This book has been replaced by “Writing In InDesign Revised Edition 2.5” This first edition, first formatting of the new book is no longer available available on Amazon. It includes many of the recent postings on this blog, plus more help for authors writing in InDesign (version 7.5 especially). I’m convinced that InDesign is best place to write. Read and find out why that is true and how it can … Continue reading →
Here I am again recommending a road less traveled by—not unusual in my life and work. Before the choruses rise up in defense of others, let me tell you my reasonings. I fully recognize that most people write in Word. What they do not realize [in most cases] is this simple fact starts their book under a great handicap. They are missing out on the best tools for communicating with readers. Books are not entirely about words … Continue reading →
