The wonders of winter

Skilled Workman Posted on February 17, 2010 by David BergslandFebruary 18, 2010

Why do I love winter? Because I don’t have to move or travel to go to an entirely different country. Every thing’s different. Winter is clear, crisp,  and dry—sort of like May in New Mexico without the dust, the wind, or the scorpions, centipedes, tarantulas, rattlesnakes, et al. The shapes of the hills become beautifully visible through the black and gray tracery of the trunks and branches of the trees. I get white lawns of gorgeous curves—much … Continue reading →

I’ve added a new site: Bergsland Books

Skilled Workman Posted on January 23, 2010 by David BergslandMay 16, 2015

As I get ramped up to submit my new novel to publishers (and enter it in the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award), it has become increasingly obvious that I need a separate site for my fiction. So I resurrected my old domain bergsland.org and converted it to Bergsland Books. http://bergsland.org and who knew it would be transformed to The Skilled Workman?  Life is full of surprises. It’s up and running with some simple stuff for Black Sail: a Christian covert … Continue reading →

Oral Roberts

Skilled Workman Posted on December 23, 2009 by David BergslandDecember 23, 2009

Sorry about the posting lately. The WordPress 2.8 update didn’t work well at all. One of the most used men of the 20th century went home recently. Reflect a moment on all that he was enabled to do for the kingdom. As usual, the lamestream media barely noticed. How the Kingdom is invisible to the world. It boggles the mind. Thank you, Lord, for Oral…

Merry Christmas! & thoughts on the coming year…

Skilled Workman Posted on December 3, 2009 by David BergslandDecember 6, 2009

it’s been a surprising year. I never would have expected to be forced into going into what the government calls retirement. That has been a huge adjustment. For a man, retirement is close to what housewives experience if circumstances keep them from being able to clean their home. it attacks the core of our being. I have been amazed at how much of my self identity is tied up in what I do. On the other hand, … Continue reading →

The reality of Aztlan and Reconquista: conquering SW US for Aztec nation

Skilled Workman Posted on November 23, 2009 by David BergslandNovember 23, 2009

One of the things Alic wanted us to realize concerning the publication of his new novel, Black Sail: Invasion, is that the movement to form Aztlan is real and they are serious. There are many Mexican people who believe Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and southern California was stolen from them. A Zogby poll in 2002 shows nearly 60% of Mexicans in Mexico believe that this area belongs to Mexico and that it cannot be illegal to migrate … Continue reading →

Black Sail: Invasion, the author Interview

Skilled Workman Posted on November 18, 2009 by David BergslandNovember 18, 2009

This an introduction to our newest author: Alic de la Peña & his newly released book BLACK SAIL: INVASION Chak: How long did you work on this book? Alic: It started with stories I heard about Mexican soldiers making raids over the southern New Mexico border in the mid to late 1990s. I don’t know if they were true then—they are now. It went through at least three complete rewrites that I remember as the news changed the … Continue reading →

New release! Black Sail: Invasion a new thriller novel

Skilled Workman Posted on November 15, 2009 by David BergslandNovember 18, 2009

Radiqx has found a fiction author, Alic de la Peña, writing military/political thrillers. We have really enjoyed this book. Cinco de Mayo has new meaning: Aztlan arises! What has been talked about for decades has come to pass. Southwestern United States is invaded and a reborn Aztec nation is born. This is no idle threat for the invaders have nukes and the latest in air and naval power delivered by a pair of highly placed American military traitors … Continue reading →

Making an essential anchored object style

Skilled Workman Posted on October 21, 2009 by David BergslandOctober 21, 2009

Adding anchored objects can be a little tedious. One of the most painful aspects of making anchored frames to hold illustrations, sidebar notes, or headlines is the tediousness of the repetitive filling out of the anchored object dialog box. The simple solution is to make those settings in an object style. Then all you do is place the object as an inline graphic and hit the shortcut to convert it to an anchored object and to offset it where you need it. Or … Continue reading →
