Jesus attacked religious legalists – hard and often

Skilled Workman Posted on February 3, 2012 by David BergslandMarch 23, 2020

Jesus attacked religious legalists vigorously. He saw them as one of his main enemies. Today I want to talk about what Jesus said when he was invited to dinner one night. He was talking about his host and his friends. “But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe…herbs, and pass by justice and the love of God. …Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like graves which are not seen, and the men who walk … Continue reading →

Learning to Walk in Freedom: Part 1 Galatians 1:1-10

Skilled Workman Posted on December 28, 2011 by David BergslandDecember 28, 2011

This is the first part of a verse by verse study of Galatians from Learning to Walk in Freedom I will be posting a new part every Monday morning by Noon. All unreferenced scripture quotes are from my own paraphrase, “Modern Viking Paraphrase” [MVP] ________________________________ Letter of Paul to the Galatians: Chapter One Verse 1:1–5 Paul, an apostle (not from men nor by man, but sent by Jesus the Messiah and God the Father, who raised him … Continue reading →

Learning to Walk in Freedom: Galatians Intro

Skilled Workman Posted on December 28, 2011 by David BergslandDecember 28, 2011

My plan is to serialize my Bible studies for my blog readers. Here is the Introduction to my verse by verse study of Galatians. _______________________________________________ The Galatians Galatia is not a town, but a region of Asia Minor just north of Cyprus. What follows is info from Easton‘s Bible dictionary plus UNRV, a site on the Roman empire: Galatia has been called the “Gallia” of the East… Gallia, as the Romans called it, was the region of … Continue reading →

In-pew missionaries to an apostate church are needed

Skilled Workman Posted on December 15, 2011 by David BergslandJune 12, 2020

In-pew missionaries to an apostate church are needed, but it’s a rough ministry. One of the huge changes in the church over the past four decades, beyond the exodus from the mainline denominations, through the me generations, is the growing fact of an apostate church. We are certainly not surprised—as Paul told us about this in II Thessalonians 2:3 Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes … Continue reading →

Yes, knowing the Lord is more important than you think!

Skilled Workman Posted on December 5, 2011 by David BergslandMarch 23, 2020

I believe knowing the Lord is more important than you think it is. There’s strong Biblical evidence that it’s required. I am working on the Narrow Gate again this morning. I ran across these verses in my daily reading. I feel that I need to share what He showed me—AGAIN! Yes, knowing the Lord is more important than you think it is. Knowing the Lord, talking with Him, hearing Him is the core of our faith. It … Continue reading →

Updates to the blog…

Skilled Workman Posted on November 29, 2011 by David BergslandNovember 29, 2011

In my ongoing effort to separate my publishing/design career from my “real” life as a prophet/teacher in the Kingdom of God, I have updated the Skilled Workman to to bring it more inline with my current usage. The Skilled Workman is the blog of Hannaniah Fellowship For my professional work in typography, font design, and on-demand publishing using InDesign you should go to: Font Design & Typography All I am doing is making official the split which … Continue reading →

Review: The Prodigy Project by Doug Flanders, MD

Skilled Workman Posted on November 21, 2011 by David BergslandNovember 21, 2011

The Duggars are conscripted by the CIA—well, not really. The dad is a doctor who was conscripted without his real knowledge or agreement. This is a doctor who deals with biological weapons of mass destruction often using his wife and many children as cover (and he hasn’t told them yet). This time they have an invite to go to China for a geography competition (but that’s peripheral to the story). The author is a doctor who has … Continue reading →

Creating OpenType Fonts: Simplified

Skilled Workman Posted on November 9, 2011 by David BergslandJanuary 29, 2016

OpenType Simplified In two words, it’s confusing. FontLab has good, professional tools for developing OpenType fonts—but it is certainly not simple or easy. Fontographer really does not deal well with OpenType at all. Having said that, if you have a feature file, you can use it in Fontographer 5.1. You link to it in the font info dialog box on the Encoding page. Fontographer will use that feature file to build your OpenType font when you generate … Continue reading →

Are you getting nervous? I’m excited

Skilled Workman Posted on October 26, 2011 by David BergslandMarch 23, 2020

For those of us who have been around long enough, this time is unusually chaotic. I read this in Dr. David Reagan’s article this morning. Everywhere we look, in every direction, the world appears to be falling apart. We are racked by wars and rumors of wars. Immorality and violence are rampant. Our money is being devalued and debased. Our educational systems have been hijacked by Humanists and Atheists. Our political systems are gridlocked by value wars and … Continue reading →

Fontographer: Practical Font Design for Graphic Designers

Skilled Workman Posted on October 22, 2011 by David BergslandOctober 22, 2011

Why do you want to use Fontographer? For the fun of it! When I received the opportunity to go back to my roots, and see what the new Fontographer was like, I was a little concerned. I had just spent nine years painfully teaching myself to letterspace by hand, to write OpenType features, and to become accustomed to the tool set of FontLab. Don’t get me wrong, FontLab is a great program and I am … Continue reading →
