The crusade against sloppy ice cream melting all over your hand

Skilled Workman Posted on February 19, 2013 by David BergslandFebruary 19, 2013

Tonight to celebrate our 37th, Pat and I went and had some of best ice cream we’ve ever eaten. The new Mom & Pops ice cream parlor on North Riverfront brings to mind a new clean, modern version of Baskin Robbins owned by locals with better ice cream. As Minnesotans, we spit in ol’Man Winter’s eye and say ice cream is better in the winter with a -25° wind chill, drifting snow, and two glorious sundogs hangin’ in … Continue reading →

Another good restaurant in Mankato! Tandem Bagels

Skilled Workman Posted on February 20, 2012 by David BergslandFebruary 23, 2012

I remember when we moved to Albuquerque in 1980. One of the real signs that  the city was still stuck back in the forties was that there were no bagels. In fact, in Albuquerque in 1980, the only bagels were Lender’s in one of the grocery stores. It was a real step up when a bakery opened with good bagels. The same is now happening in Mankato. As we have made it into the small city level … Continue reading →

Skilled Workman Posted on November 29, 2011 by David BergslandMarch 23, 2020

It’s not easy to join a church as we approach the end of the church age. As more and more churches fall into apostacy, we are seeing remarkably inventive ways to compromise the Gospel. For example, Jesus is seen as a wide, obvious gate. The way that the post-modern church teaches, the gate is not very narrow.  There are several common practices in the modern church that seem to provide a wide open gate. Salvation through baptism is … Continue reading →

Careful! God is going on vacation

Skilled Workman Posted on May 29, 2009 by David BergslandMay 29, 2009

One of the real surprises when we moved back here to Minnesota after 25 years in New Mexico was Summer. I had grown accustomed to the eight month summers of mid-New Mexico on the high plains south of Albuquerque. March to October I could expect heat and sun. I came to hate the sun. It made it impossible to work outside, and on & on. I was really looking forward to summers in Minnesota. I knew about … Continue reading →
