Talk with Jesus about the increasing confusion
Talk with Jesus about the increasing confusion to get the help you need. Confusion is often Satanic. Jesus will give you peace and rest, if you ask. He promised. But you need to talk with Him.
Many people today believe the Lord only talks through the scriptures. the Bible itself tells us strongly that this is not true.
Talk with Jesus about the increasing confusion and He’ll deliver you from it
I’m not talking about petitions or requests. He said, “Come unto me all you who heavily labor…” Finding peace and rest should not be laborious. As you talk with Jesus, He will show you that He has it all under control and that you’re being fed lies.
If you ask, He will tell you Truth. He doesn’t offer opinions. He gives you facts. When you ask Him a question, He gives you an answer.
I heard something horrible a couple weeks ago. I was in a discussion about hearing from Jesus. I got a strong response, “If you want to hear God, read the Bible out loud.” I almost broke into tears. That made me so sad. If the Lord speaks to you through the Bible, ask Him if you heard it correctly. He’ll tell you. Have faith.
The church has been fed the lie that the only way God speaks is through the Bible.
Scripture is what the Holy Spirit had people write down millennia ago. It is Truth, literally true, and it will help you recognize the voice of the Lord when He speaks to you.
But be assured, the Bible is ink on paper. If it speaks to you—that is the Holy Spirit converting the written word to a rhema for you. But it is a sorry substitute for an actual conversation with Jesus. The written Word is not Jesus, any more than a DVD of preaching is the same as talking with the preacher. They are both recordings.
Imagine if you had the preacher sitting next to you while you watch the DVD. He could answer all your questions and fill out what was recorded. That’s what Jesus will do to your Bible studies, IF you ask Him to do that. ” Just a simple question, “What does that mean, Jesus?”, will transform your bible study.
But you need to ask, prepare, and practice
You need to ask Him, “How can we talk?” It’s all about your faith. He’ll show you the method that will work the best for you. If you believe that you can only hear the Lord from the scriptures, that’s what you’ll get. If you have faith that He’ll talk to you in dreams—you’ll get that. If your faith is that He’ll speak to you though your pastor, that’s all you’ll get.
But if you believe he’ll converse with you, and that this is His desire for your relationship, that’s what you’ll get. The tragedy of Genesis 3 is when God comes walking in the cool of the day to talk with Adam and Eve. He discovers that sin has made that impossible. I makes me want to cry to read that.
Personally, I have conversations with Jesus in my mind. I carefully vet what I hear, for I don’t trust myself. But the conversations are real and wonderful. I don’t expect Him to talk audibly, so He doesn’t do that with me. You can go as far as your faith will carry you.
I explained my procedure in The Wife of Jesus. It took me countless hours and many years to arrive at my present place of comfortable conversation. BTW, Jesus is really funny. With me, He regularly nails me with His dry wit. What a joy it is.
Ask “show me how to talk with you, Lord, back and forth, conversationally”
Please share how He shows you to do it. I’m convinced it is different for all of us. But practice, diligently try, and have faith that He wants to do this with you.
Remember, Jesus is the Word. He’ll back up scripture. But have no misunderstanding. That is Him talking to you.
React to Him, not to the book.
